Welcome to the HJC Leadership Laboratory!

Leadership can be a solitary place and as such receiving constructive feedback on our leadership styles can be challenging. With that in mind we are putting our own leadership approach under the microscope in this workshop, inviting individuals to examine, question and experiment with their unique leadership style.

This workshop has two components. The first explores your approach to leadership, by engaging with a living metaphor: the horse. Participants will be guided on a journey learning how they identify leadership and develop a personal strategy to move forward, through learning horsemanship principles.

All participants will have the opportunity to engage with and learn from Ellen and the HJC herd.

The second component will take place in the HJC indoor facility with a warm drink in hand! Participants will take a facilitated deeper dive into the experience they had with the horses and use what they learned to develop strategies which they can implement in their respective workplaces.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Identify your current leadership beliefs.

  • Build self-awareness regarding your leadership tendencies.

  • Explore leadership strengths.

  • Experiment with leadership styles.

  • Develop new strategies to engage with in your leadership journey.

Program will include a light snack and warm beverage.

All programs adhere to Public Health Guidelines in regard to Covid-19.

Minimum 3 participants, maximum 4 (for safety during Covid-19).

Horse portion of the program is in our horse facility. Please dress for the weather.

Please take your own mask.

*All programs at HJC operate with the strictest of confidentiality at heart. Emotional and physical safety are a high values for our programming and our facility. Leadership Lab: Leading with Intention

WELCOME TO HJC’S LEADERSHIP LABORATORY!

The road to hell is not paved with “good” intentions as far as I can tell - but it is paved with unclear and poorly expressed ones.

Join us at HJC this fall to explore the importance of intentional living and leading - and highlight examples of how it could play out in everyday life - through engaging in horsemanship activities.

This workshop has two components. The first explores intentionality, by engaging with a living metaphor: the horse. Participants will be guided on a journey learning how they can clarify their intentions and develop a personal strategy to move forward, through learning horsemanship principles.

All participants will have the opportunity to engage with and learn from Ellen and the HJC herd.

The second component will take place in the HJC indoor facility with a warm drink in hand! Participants will take a facilitated deeper dive into the experience they had with the horses and use what they learned to develop strategies which they can implement in their respective lives and workplaces.

Closing the leadership gap: A program for Mothers\Daughters etc.

E0C159E6-4096-4117-A731-03F16B148E9C.jpeg

SESSION DATE: October 8th 9:30 am! (It’s a PD Day and yes we are encouraging you to play hooky!)

"You can't be what you can't see." ~Marian Wright Edelman

**This workshop is offered at a low rate as a part of HJC’s continued commitment to closing the leadership gender gap. HJC has pledged to offer at least one opportunity per month at these reduced rates to make programs for women and girls accessible.

Mothers\Daughters, Aunts\Nieces, Grandmothers\Granddaughters - or all combinations of multi-generational women, girls, Two-spirit, trans and non-binary people - are invited to participate in a half day (3.5 hour) confidence and leadership building workshop with Ellen and the HJC herd.

Research continues to demonstrate that by the early age of 8 years, girls begin to rapidly lose confidence compared with their male peers. These confidence deficiencies often follow our youth into adulthood. We want to break that cycle!

Join us for a fun morning of learning, horsemanship activities and confidence building across generations! We want to not only surround young girls with positive messaging but lead by example and what more powerful message is there than two people in different generations learning together?

No horse experience required.

Please note this is NOT a horseback riding lesson.

Children must be aged 10-12 years - accompanying adult has no age limit!

Coffee\tea\cider and a light snack provided.

Limited space (3 pairs). Deposit required to secure reservation. $90 per pair + HST.

HJC Sunrise Sessional: Leading with Intention

BCA7D7C8-3414-42F9-AEE3-14708D3753EE.jpeg

You read that right - 5:30 a.m. start time!

If getting up and getting out before sunrise isn’t an act of intentionality, I’m not sure what is.

There is something special about being at the farm before most of the world has woken up. It’s a time not everyone gets to be a part of - it’s reserved for those of us fortunate enough to have our own properties with our animals on site and I want to share it with 4 individuals this June.

Join the HJC herd (and me) at our beautiful new facility in Nine Mile Creek, while we greet the day, explore intentional leadership with the HJC horses and set our intentions for the coming week. Learn the value of clear intentions, explore intentionality in our day to day lives and develop strategies for the future.

Each session will involve a demonstration/opportunity with the HJC herd as well as a chance to debrief or unpack the experience.

No horse experience required.

I'll be right there with you pouring the coffee!

Four mini-sessions over the course of four weeks this coming June, designed to jump start your week - to set clear intentions, provoke deep introspective thought and ultimately help you to move forward in the direction of your dreams.

Limited spaces available.

$100 + HST per person for all four sessions.
Coffee\Tea and light breakfast included.
